Patent Portfolio

BMT intellectual property is separated into three issued patents we refer to as: CAS-A, CAS-C, and CAS-I. These patents protect us from a competitor stealing the ideas, and provide a basis to command a market for twenty years based on the CAS processes and related accessory tools.

CAS-A protects the first refinement in accuracy related to the improvement in determining the direction of the X, Y, and Z axes of a CNC milling machine.

CAS-C protects the second refinement in accuracy related to the calibration of the of position accuracy of the X, Y, and Z axes of a CNC milling machine.

Using both CAS-A and CAS-C the accuracy is improved by up to ten times.

CAS-I protects the idea of in-situ inspection carried out during manufacture.

Inspections, defined by the designer, are carried out on everything: the CNC mill, the vise, the cutter tools, and the part being manufactured. Inspections and the related tolerance specification, as defined by the designer, insure that the part is correctly manufactured by design.

The designer is now responsible for correct manufacture of parts.

Another novel patented concept in CAS-I is the ability for the machinist to speak to the CNC milling machine, and for Cassie (our virtual assistant) to speak to the machinist.

As machinists are not typically expert programmers, some verbal control of the programming will be a welcome time saving feature for some machinists.
